ANNANAN stands for raw and noisy analogue sounds, tracks characterised by a harsh density and led by their keen punchiness. It’s dark tone, enriched by haunting vocals and melancholic synths, might dominate, however finds its complementary counterpart in wildly driving rhythms and particles of light, pending and pleasant melodic figures. Having released on Forbidden Planet, Pinkman and their own imprint Machine Jazz, they found more than suitable platforms for their specific approach. Annanan undoubtedly added to those labels‘ achievement of combining the raw and heavy with a careful and attentive, nearly tender balance of sounds, structures and atmospheres. Their elaborated production and songwriting becomes most notable in their powerful and thrilling live sets.
German duo Annanan opened with the night's first live set. Entirely improvised, their arty blend of sequencers, drum machines and vocal loops created a haunting atmosphere on the smokey floor.
